JOB PURPOSEUnder the direction of the Chief Operating Officer, the VP of Member Service is responsible for strategic oversight of retail branch sales and service and overall member experience. This position is responsible for leading the Credit Unions Retail operations division through efficient and effective programs with adherence to policies, procedures and established internal controls. The VP of Member Service has primary responsibility to achieving organizational sales goals, specifically in the areas of membership growth, deposit growth and direct consumer loan growth. Responsibilities also include developing strategic plans that drive employee and member engagement, routine leadership and staff coaching, effective change management, and process improvement. Explores future operational innovations, develops operational enhancements, and implements the Credit Union’s operational strategic plan. Displays a commitment to quality service and exhibits strategic and critical thinking with a focus on the Credit Union’s long-term goals and objectives. Reviews activities, costs, operations, and forecasts of Service Centers. Interfaces the Senior Management team and ALCO to develop and plan operational objectives, services and programs which will implement the policies of the Board.ESSENTIAL DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES, AND FUNCTIONSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. Must maintain the Credit Union’s policies regarding Ethics, Standards of Conduct and Confidentiality. Must maintain the same in all matters pertaining to all areas of the credit union and its subsidiaries.
Responsible for compliance with security policies and procedures for designated department(s).
Develops, implements, maintains, and fulfills both short term and long-range goals to meet Credit Union financial objectives.
Reviews and recommends new methods and procedures to ensure the delivery of quality service to members.
Designs and implements operational policies regarding the Credit Unions branch operations to ensure audit and regulatory requirements are being met by all staff members in their area of responsibility.
Dispenses advice, guidance, direction, and authorization to designated staff to carry out major plans and procedures, personnel actions, etc.
Evaluates the effectiveness of the branch system and the individual branches by directing the analysis of branch activity statistics and reports.
Ensure consistency among branch operations by monitoring and auditing branch procedures.
Ensures that managers follow through with assignments and develops/monitors department strategic plan.
Oversees division budgets, allocates and maintains control of operational resources, and assures timeliness of product releases and project deadlines.
Oversee the Credit Unions Wealth Management program, including sales and profitability reporting, branch referral training, and oversight of Wealth Management department staff.
Manage branch audit/exam cycle, including follow up on audit exceptions and policy/procedure updates, oversight of cash and operational soundness in the branch network.
Interface with Compliance and Risk Team for vendor relationships, including contract negotiation and due diligence, renewals, and periodic reviews.
Reviews policies specific to area of responsibility to ensure adequacy and compliance and reports items which could have significant impact on the Credit Union or operations.
Directs security and loss prevention programs for all member service areas.
Plans, assesses, and recommends staff training and development programs, while meeting the objectives of the Credit Union. Responsible for the employment, counseling, performance evaluation, training, motivation, and discipline of assigned employees.
Actively participates and networks with industry on operational management.
Actively participates as a member of the Credit Union Senior Management team. Represents organization in manner appropriate for an executive level.
Serve on committees as assigned by COO. Assist on special projects as assigned. Perform other duties as assigned by COO on an as needed basis.
Provide a listing of all membership applicants that were accepted during the previous quarter by the Membership Officer(s) to the Board of Directors for review and ratification on a quarterly basis. May act as a Membership Officer or oversee Membership Officer process to ensure compliance with VCCU Bylaws.
Is responsible for the total administration, planning, organizing, directing and controlling the quality of services, daily operations and long term planning for Branches and Call Center/MSC.
Reviews activities, costs, operations and forecasts of Service Centers and designs and implements operational policies.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITYDirectly supervises assigned managers of designated branches and /or departments. Oversees the performance of the manager’s supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Credit Union’s policies, procedures and applicable laws. Responsibilities include; Interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and developing employees; addressing and resolving problems.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONSALL EMPLOYEES MUST QUALIFY FOR AND MAINTAIN A FIDELITY BOND

Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field. 4 years of comparable work experience will be accepted in lieu of degree.
Eight+ years directly related experience, specifically in management of branch network in a financial institution.
Extensive experience in Credit Union and knowledge of Credit Union products and services desirable.
Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS**Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, members, and the general public.MATHEMATICAL SKILLSMust have the ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIESMust be able to operate basic office equipment and be PC literate with software applications in use at VCCU. Must have the ability to utilize other job-related software programs. Must be competent in and understand the Credit Union’s LAN/WAN/Host System etc.REASONING ABILITYMust be a strategic thinker and possess the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.PHYSICAL DEMANDSThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. You will often reach on top of high cabinets for items; often position yourself to get under desks and cabinets; and constantly communicate effectively and efficiently with employees, members and vendors. The employee is frequently required to traverse across the office. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance. The employee must frequently move up to 10 pounds and occasionally move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus.WORK ENVIRONMENTThe work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job in an indoor work environment.While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electric shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
