General purpose of the job
The Driver Recruiter is accountable for managing all aspects of the driver recruiting process. Responsibilities include attracting qualified drivers to join Argos by coordinating advertising, screening and interviewing candidates, maintaining an applicant pipeline, contributing to hiring decisions, along with negotiating and closing of offers to candidates to ensure compliance with company policy and in accordance regulations and Federal and State Employment Laws.
Individual accountabilities

Conduct day-to-day Driver recruitment activities; follow recruiting processes and act as a resource on all points of the recruitment cycle. Creatively source and develop a pool of qualified applicants through the use of traditional and non-traditional recruiting techniques including social media channels, cold-calling/direct sourcing, networking, job fairs, employment agencies, internet searches, postings, etc.
Develop and execute progressive, integrated and cost-effective driver recruitment solutions using direct sourcing, industry networking, employee referrals, internet sourcing, job fairs and truck driving school programs.
Develop business partnerships and consult with hiring managers to understand business and recruitment needs for drivers in order to effectively plan for and project future staffing needs.
Conduct appropriate research and maintain an up-to-date file on various markets to ensure wages are competitive, target sources and prepare distinct and effective recruiting and compensation approaches to those markets.
Evaluate and recommend beneficial recruiting resources to utilize to successfully generate leads and attract potential drivers to meet Company hiring goals.
Obtain driver leads and contact potential candidates via phone, e-mail, text and fax as necessary to establish contact and begin building rapport. Pro-actively reach out to and engage every qualified lead.
Answer incoming calls and inquiries generated from various sources such as ads, billboards, networking, Job boards. Guide candidate in screening process to determine eligibility from information supplied to the company according to standard criteria.
Conduct interviews via phone or in person and disseminates company information regarding potential employment opportunities.
Sell Argos by being a positive “first contact” and company advocate by accurately and professionally expressing the opportunities and benefits of driving for Argos.
Request motor vehicle and other background reports from Consumer Reporting Agencies to use in the approval process. Manage the employment verifications process, including requests and obtain drug & alcohol results from previous employers as applicable.
Review all applicant information and reports to assess specified qualifications as outlined by Company policy and DOT standards and determine if applicants qualify for conditional employment.
Execute conditional offers of employment or issue denials of employment to non-qualified applicants via professional phone interaction or other means of communication, and record information as determined by regulations or Company standards.
Schedule and confirm orientation / training start date with applicants and notify pertinent personnel of orientation attendees.
Construct driver file, ensuring all required forms and information is complete and accurate, greet applicants at start of orientation, and gather any necessary information to complete files.
Maintain/update applicant database and provide reports as requested such as sourcing reports, applicant tracking, and other recruiting based data as directed by management.
Prepare and present professional and accurate information about Argos driving opportunities as needed to potential applicants at CDL schools, job fairs, etc.
Ensure a positive and consistent corporate image and approach is integrated throughout all recruiting efforts.
Monitor and measure the effectiveness of all sources and develop actions for improvement.
Manage and utilize the applicant tracking system (10th Street) and application files in accordance with EEO, DOT requirements and company policies and procedures, to enhance the identification, tracking and reporting of qualified candidates.

Educational background: Bachelor’s degree
Training: Human Resources, Business or related field
Technical knowledge and certifications

Commercial Driver’s License/Federal/Provincial license
Smith System Certification
CDP Certification (NRMCA Concrete Delivery Professional)
DPAS certification (Driver Performance Analysis System)
Coaching Ready Mixed Driver (National Safety Council)
Train the Trainer (Smith System Inc)
Advanced Instructor Training

Area of experience
HR, Experience in driver recruiting for the transportation industry will be highly regarded but not considered a prerequisite.
