Job Description
The Opportunity:
Mattel is seeking a Rights Management Coordinator to assist in content claiming of Mattel owned intellectual property (IP) across its portfolio of brands, primarily on YouTube. This position will work directly with the Associate Manager, Digital Asset Management as well as the greater Digital Engagement Group team to ensure user-generated content (UGC) uploaded to YouTube is claimed according to Mattel outlined best practices. The role will also have cross-functional collaboration with legal and S&P to align with brand objectives and awareness.
What Your Impact Will Be:
Working with the Associate Manager, Digital Asset Management, this role is responsible for all rights management, monetization of Mattel’s internally managed network of CMS’s and channels
Adhere to YouTube best practices as it relates to content ID operations.
Content claiming efforts will be equally split with an emphasis on both monetization and anti-piracy
Flag any anti-piracy takedowns to legal
Create, manage, and apply custom policies in support of Mattel-owned content.
Additional claim research and capture for both content protection and monetization purposes.
Be in-house expert on content claiming responsibilities and ensuring 100% policy compliance with YTK guidelines across all Mattel-owned channels
Alongside Associate Manager, act as primary owner of other CMS/rights management responsibilities as the business continues to evolve.
Review and reconcile potential, disputed, and appealed claims, reference overlaps, ownership conflicts, and invalid references.
Management and enforcement of policies as it relates to User-Generated Content (UGC)
Regularly audit assets for content ID maintenance.
Represent Mattel in communications w/ 3rd-party partners as it relates to claims and rights management.
Ensure that correct policies are established and made available to Content Publishing team.
In coordination with their manager, address copyright strikes in a timely manner.
Document and analyze anything relevant gleaned from all the above efforts in review with reporting supervisor to include in rights management’s communication/reporting to DEG as a whole
Building and documenting processes in support of activities outlined, and others as it relates to the evolution of Mattel’s content management needs.
Qualifications
What We’re Looking For:
Current or previous YouTube certifications in digital rights management or monetization
Minimum 1-2 years overseeing a portfolio of content for claiming purposes either directly for or on behalf of a major IP driven company, such as film/tv studio or music label
Proficiency in the YouTube CMS for content claiming purposes, or a high-level understanding developed through working in a 3rd party proprietary tool
Ability to differentiate between tv series, web series and/or film releases from a brand which may appear similar to ensure content is claimed correctly to avoid disputes from 3rd parties
Familiarity or experience with COPPA
Competency with Google Workspace or Office 365
