Job Description :
The Strategic Industry Ventures (SIV) group at MD Anderson Cancer Center is primarily responsible for conceiving, drafting, negotiating, executing and operationalizing a wide range of value-creating relationships with leaders in the biomedical/oncology industry. The end goal of these activities is to enhance existing intellectual property (IP) and/or develop new technologies and therapies which lead to better outcomes for cancer patients. This is goal is accomplished through the execution of various agreements between MD Anderson outside parties.

The primary purpose of this SIV Program Coordinator (PC) position is to support the business development function and activities within the SIV group. The PC will be responsible for a wide range of tasks including project/program management duties and administrative responsibilities, all of which ultimately aid in the execution of value-creating transactions for MD Anderson Cancer Center and our patients.

KEY FUNCTIONS

Coordinate, organize, and track the flow of documents between MDACC Legal Services, SIV, other internal and external groups. At any point in time, the PC will be able to identify the status and timing of a wide range of SIV-touching documents such as confidential disclosure agreements (CDAs or NDAs), material transfer agreements (MTAs), inbound and outbound license agreements, collaborative development agreements, co-development agreements, risk-share agreements, clinical alliance agreements and various documents related to the creation of start-up companies.
Enter the executed documents into the appropriate databases and notify the relevant parties across the Institution to ensure a smooth handoff to the operations group.
Liaise with Legal Services and the Office of Technology Commercialization as needed in support of transaction execution and post-transaction management.
Create and populate virtual data rooms, along with granting and managing access to the appropriate internal and external parties.
Coordinate and schedule a high frequency of meetings, including complex meetings with multiple internal and external stakeholders along with creating agendas and meeting materials as needed.
Primarily responsible for and main point of contact for on-site and off-site meetings with potential collaborators/partners.
Communicate in a polished, professional manner with internal and external groups.
Create and manage meeting itineraries and schedules for various healthcare and business conferences (e.g. ASCO, AACR, ASH, JP Morgan).
Coordinate domestic and international travel for SIV members, including conference registrations, travel authorizations, itineraries, hotel confirmations, car rental, ground transportation, etc. along with associated travel reimbursement activities.
Assist in preparation of professional quality presentations with internal and/or external stakeholders.
Coordinate and prepare special reports as needed, which will include use of various Microsoft Office products or other departmental/institutional database/software.
Conduct targeted market research activities as support of future and ongoing deals.
Responsible for special one-off projects as assigned.
Must be able to work independently with limited supervision and make decisions and resolve problems in the absence of supervisory personnel.
Must exercise the utmost discretion in handling confidential and sensitive information.
Must be able to handle multiple priorities simultaneously.
Back-up other staff as necessary.
Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:
Required: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field.

Preferred: Master’s degree in Business Administration or related field.

EXPERIENCE:
Required: Three years project/program coordination experience. May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one basis. With preferred degree, one year of required experience.
