Position Overview

The non-destructive test trainee provides NDT inspection support to production and quality operations. The non-destructive trainee position will learn and apply knowledge of relevant NDT technologies and will operate routine tasks on a deployed multi-functional team and helps ensure the quality system meets stakeholder requirements including technical compliance and, adherence to inspection processes and standards. Supports the production process with technical knowledge for NDT inspection of part fabrication, and assembly. Uses “state of the art” NDT technology as it applies to inspection techniques for part fabrication and assembly inspection.

Principal Accountabilities

Works under direct supervision from level 2, level 3, managers and, program leadership in a team environment.
Willing to learn NDT methods to inspect composite components and large aerospace composite and metallic assemblies ensuring parts and assemblies meet industry standards and customer requirements.
A key member of team(s) that work from engineering requirements to assist level 2 and 3 in inspection processes & methodologies.
Generates non-conformance tags in accordance with internal processes.
Adheres to all applicable business & quality processes and procedures such as FAA, DoD, Export Control, ITAR, Nadcap, AS9100 and customer contractual requirements.
Maintain positive team relationships with internal and external customers, as well as peers.
Other related duties as required due to changes in business processes or customer requirements.

Experience and Qualifications

Must be a US Citizen or a Permanent resident per ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) guidelines.
This position is not eligible for Visa sponsorship or a foreign person per ITAR.
High school diploma or GED
Willing to attend 200 hours of classroom NDT training.
Must be willing to meet the requirements of NAS 410 Rev 5 and internal NDT procedures.
Willing to learn to read, interpret, and evaluate ultrasonic A/B/C scan data.
Willing to learn to understand, communicate and present complex technical information to a wide audience.
The candidate will be proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
Willing to learn engineering principles & practices such as reading engineering drawings, interpreting customer and internal NDT specifications

Strong mechanical aptitude, great attention to detail and exceptional communication skills

Physical Demands

Frequently required to spend sitting/standing at a workstation and using NDT equipment.
May be required to walk or stand for brief periods.
May be required to use stairs when elevator is not available.
Must occasionally lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move up to 40 pounds of NDT equipment and materials.
May be required to reach with arms and hands and to stoop, kneel or crouch.
