Job Summary: The Employee Engagement & Development Manager is responsible for all programs, processes and systems that promote employee engagement and aid in the development and career progression of our team members. This person works collaboratively with the other members of the Human Resources Team to best drive company and HR strategy while contributing as an enthusiastic, authentic and fun colleague.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Engagement
In partnership with our Alterra corporate team, plan and execute the employee engagement survey twice per year.
Oversee the process of action planning based on survey results. Assist managers to identify meaningful action plans and provide avenues for accountability to follow through on those plans.
Run point on employee communications. Typically, via email notifications or text alerts, keep our team members updated on relevant, urgent or helpful information.
Work in conjunction with the rest of the HR team and other stakeholders to identify and execute on rewards and recognition that is meaningful and drives behavior that is aligned with company strategy.
Development
Build and facilitate all new hire and welcome back “orientations” that generate excitement and promote a sense of team.
Oversight of compliance and/or skills training such as recruiting best practices, anti-harassment, payroll/timekeeping, legal landmines, guest service, etc.
In partnership with our corporate team, launch, facilitate, and evolve our leadership development program, Alterra University.
Work actively and collaboratively with our Alterra Leadership and Development Team to identify employee development needs, assist with, and advise on content development and participate with that team as an advocate of our resort’s needs and wants.
Coordinate all in -person learning sessions with our conference planning team.
In conjunction with the HR Director and Director or Talent Development, oversee the performance management cycle and process to ensure meaningful and helpful feedback that aids in employee development.
In conjunction with the HR Director and Director or Talent Development, support leadership talent forums and succession planning.
General
As a member of our Department Head Group, maintain oversight of relevant budget.
Participate as a positive contributing member of the Human Resources Team with a willingness to assist as needed for the team’s success. This includes hands on support with business processes within Workday, on and off boarding, employee events and all other HR functions.
Ability to embrace and effectively use technology to provide innovative solutions in all above areas.
Management Responsibilities:
Leadership: Carry out responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Exemplify and model behavior that is aligned with Company Ethics & Values. Assist with the oversight of the Human Resources team.
Integrity & Compliance: Comply with Federal and California Labor law in phases of the payroll and employment process from hiring through termination, as well as all Company policies & procedures.
Commitment to Service: Achieve continuous improvement in operational objectives by implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards. Contribute information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews
Financial: Responsible for creating and maintaining operating budget. Meet financial objectives by forecasting requirements, preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
Safety: Establish, implement, and enforce safety standards in accordance with company policies and procedures as well as State & Federal laws.

Interpersonal skills to professionally handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation.
Working knowledge of computers and technology including MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access), with high proficiency in Excel.
Education and Experience:
Required:
Five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Three years supervisory experience
License/certificates/accreditations
Passion for a mountain lifestyle and the outdoors
Preferred
Bachelor’s Degree
