Job Description
AECOM is actively seeking an Environmental Planner specializing in the assessment and permitting of energy facilities, with a focus on renewable energy, electric transmission, and other energy facilities for immediate employment within the Texas area. The primary work location is Dallas, TX, but with AECOM offices throughout the State, will consider excellent candidates interested in our other office locations (i.e. Austin or Houston).
The successful applicant will join a network of existing AECOM specialists across the U.S. (Virtual Texas only) The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

Develops and evaluates plans and criteria for a variety of projects and activities to be carried out by others.
Assesses the feasibility and soundness of proposed planning products.
Usually performs as a staff advisor and consultant as to a technical specialty, a type of facility, industry, equipment or program function.
Monitors and ensures compliance with local, state and federal laws.
Oversees specialized planning functions, such as large-scale new development proposals and environmental studies.
Provides overall management of IE-related planning issues.
Advises the Planning Director on all planning-related matters.
Advises various councils, boards, commissions and elected officials in planning related issues
Evaluates operations and activities of assigned responsibilities.
Prepares reports on operations and activities, recommending improvements and modifications.

Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Environmental Planning, Natural/Biological Resource Management or other related field experience
6 years full-time work experience successfully supporting environmental impact analysis documents and associated technical studies, including National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) compliance, Endangered Species Act (ESA) compliance, avian and bat studies, natural resources surveys, and Clean Water Act (CWA) permitting
Knowledge of Texas and other state public utility commission (PUC) requirements and related experience with wind and solar siting, transmission line routing, and preparing PUC applications
Due to the nature of this work, U.S. Citizenship is required

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Master’s Degree in relevant field
10+ years full time work experience in related field, focused on PUC siting, environmental permitting, NEPA compliance, natural resources management, and/or cultural resources management consulting industry
Strong, current and recent experience with renewable energy development companies, electric transmission developers, utilities and other energy companies
Demonstrated leadership in proposal development and successful pursuit of competitive bids
Experience providing expert witness testimony for Texas and other state public utility commission (PUC) with wind and solar siting or transmission line routing.
Experience with environmental permitting, NEPA, relevant environmental regulations and processes, and related environmental considerations
Demonstrated ability to manage environmental planning projects, including client interaction, schedule and budget controls, and invoicing
Strong experience with client relationship building and leading and delivering environmental permitting services, including ability to manage projects, interdisciplinary teams, and workload, as well as interface with clients
Established agency and client relationships with ability to market and win work successfully and effectively for the team, office and region as related to the renewable energy, electric transmission, utility, and other energy sectors
