Description

Directs and works with all levels of the organization to initiate, steward and implement a variety of projects that improve Valero profitability and lower the carbon intensity of Valero products through commercial agreements, business process modifications, asset or company acquisitions, or the construction of new equipment and infrastructure.

Identifies and innovates new opportunities for investment and improved profitability within the Low Carbon businesses by using market research and finding new technologies, and analyzing existing and emerging businesses.
Contributes to strategic plan development with innovative strategies and project ideas.
Prepares accurate & timely economic evaluations using financial modelling to define: 1) investment opportunities under relevant scenarios and sensitivities with net present value, projected EBITDA cash flow, and rate-of-return values, 2) probability of outcomes, 3) comparison of alternate solutions, and 4) terms and provisions for new agreements.
Leads opportunity development as individual contributor and as a manager of cross-functional teams including internal and external partner deliverables, including negotiation of third-party agreements.
Participates in leadership reviews to obtain approval for action(s) and funding

This position is salaried exempt status, which means you are not eligible for overtime pay.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree, or higher, in Finance, Economics, Chemical Engineering or related fields of study required.
Fifteen (15) years of Commercial, Engineering or Business Development experience required.
MBA in Finance or any combination of degrees in Finance, Economics, Engineering or related fields of study is preferred.
Three (3) or more years of experience in the Energy Sector with engineering, operations or management is preferred.
Strong capability to independently construct and use reliable models for NPV, cash flows, and IRR using Microsoft Excel preferred.
Strong capability to multi-task and prioritize assignments to complete tasks within stated time requirements including short and emergency timeframes preferred.
Strong interpersonal skills, specifically for interaction with senior leaders and executive team members preferred.
Knowledgeable in the art of negotiation and capable to negotiate less complex agreements and portions of complex third-party agreement preferred.
Capability to create graphical representations and generate PowerPoint presentations to effectively deliver the key messages preferred.
Attention to detail especially with accuracy of financial modelling and presentation materials preferred.
Effective communication in both oral and written language using professional vocabulary and grammar preferred.
Professional presence in meetings including with senior leaders and executive team members preferred.
Effective project planning and organization skill to ensure deliverables are met as predicted for cost and time preferred.
