SUMMARY.
The Direct Referral Program (DRP) Housing Coordinator (“DRP Housing Coordinator”) is a member of the Direct Referral Program Team, and requires a high degree of creativity, public relations skills, organization and ability to adapt services for person centered approaches. This position requires advanced skills and knowledge in order to provide housing assistance through recovery oriented, trauma informed services to individuals experiencing homelessness, mental and physical health challenges, substance abuse, criminal justice, and other traumas. As a member of the Direct Referral Program, the DRP Housing Coordinator is responsible for the coordination of housing service delivery. The DRP Housing Coordinator and Continuum of Care will cultivate relationships with Landlords, Property Management Companies, Local Housing Authorities and Housing Partners to identify and procure safe, decent and affordable housing for Haven for Hope Members. The Housing Coordinator will also support the team on ways to strategically assess and expand current local housing inventory to best support and collaborate with community partner efforts on rapid rehousing, permanent supportive housing, housing voucher acceptance and relocation services for Members who are currently experiencing homelessness.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES.
Conducts Person Centered Housing Plans according to Policies and Procedures.
Point of contact for Housing Coordination with Continuum of Care and Housing partners.
Conducts on-going community outreach and presentations to various housing property owners, landlords, community partners and potential supporters about Haven housing assistance programs.
Creates material to share with community and staff about Haven’s housing assistance and stability programs.
Maintains Housing Services Property Inventory Data Base which gives an accurate listing of property options.
Maintains an updated knowledge of grants and contracts as well as current interventions for homelessness service delivery to provide technical assistance and process improvement to Team Members.
Identify appropriate permanent housing options for Members, such as, subsidized housing Section 8, Shelter Plus Care, VASH, permanent supportive housing, affordable and market rate housing, and other housing opportunities.
Assists Members with housing applications, completing supportive and subsidized housing paperwork, surveying rental market for affordable housing, and advocating for members with prospective landlords.
Supports team with all processes, tracking and communication for Public and Section 8 Housing.
Establishes and maintains relationships with landlords, and management companies in the community for the purpose of securing non-traditional housing solutions for affordable housing.
Provides education to Members to support their successful transition into community.
Assists with referrals to appropriate community resources to support each Member’s housing stability.
Provides support with move out process, which includes habitability inspections, donation referrals, and lease signings.
Maintains written and computerized records, compiles reports and completes other program documentation, to include case notes, services and data management.
Facilitates group presentations and workshops on topics related to tenancy and community integration.
Coordinates ongoing events to support partnerships with housing resources, which includes Landlord Appreciation Events, Housing/Resource Fairs.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS.
Prefer a valid Texas Driver’s License, a good driving record, reliable transportation and proper insurance coverage on automobile used for work. Monthly reimbursement for applicable and documented work related expenditures is provided. Travel within the city and its surrounding areas will be required (if applicable). Expectation, if employed as a Peer Community Engagement Specialist, to become a Certified Peer Support Specialist (CPSS) within one year of employment.

EDUCATION.
Minimum High School Diploma or GED
Preferred Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Human Services, Psychology, Social Work, Sociology, or related field.
EXPERIENCE.
2+ years direct practice successfully assisting individuals or families who have experienced homelessness to secure and retain permanent housing. Experience with Section 8 housing, public housing and supportive housing is highly preferred.

Strong creative and critical thinking skills, to include the ability to analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, and project consequences of proposed actions.
Ability to work collaboratively and be invested as a member of the Direct Referral Program Team.
Excellent public speaking and presentation skills.
Ability to engage with and sustain partner and client relationships.
Knowledge of local housing programs and requirements, and homeless services within the Bexar County area.
Familiarity with Federal and State Local Agencies involved in housing, and housing policy.
